If the sounds of a train whistle tickles your fancy, check out the Strasburg Railroad. It’s located in scenic Strasburg, PA in the center of Pennsylvania Amish country. Ride a train, tour the shop or meet new friends at this popular attraction
History of the Strasburg Railroad
From its founding in 1832 to today, the Strasburg Railroad offers exceptional service and welcomes guests from around the world. While it operated primarily as a freight interchange and passenger transport, it gradually provided freight transportation only. A decrease in use and storm damage ruined the tracks and left the railroad in disuse around the mid 1950s. Two enthusiastic investors, however, changed the railroad’s fate as they performed repairs, purchased historic cars and welcomed guests to experience railroad transportation.
